Test Drive Unlimited

Next month is the release of another exciting racing game in pc, the Test Drive Unlimited. I hope I'll be able to play this one. Actually, there are a lot of racing games that I want to play yet I can't because I don't have a racing wheel controller to be able to enjoy playing these simulation racing games like GTR 2, Race - The WTCC Game, GT Legends, etc. TOCA Race Driver 3 is playable with just a keyboard. Hmmm.. I think I'll try that one too this year. ^_^

I will definitely buy a racing wheel from CD-R King by June or later months. Theirs only cost P880 compared to logitech's MOMO racing wheel which is about P4850. Geez...

Why Dogs Dont Live As Long As People

I just wanna share this story from MountainWings. It is really nice.

-------------------------------------------------
Why Dogs Don't Live As Long As People
======================================
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year- old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very much attached to Belker and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family there were no miracles left for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good the four-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on.
Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.

Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why."
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.
He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?" The four-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.

Happy New Year! ^_^ NFS Carbon

Happy New Year Everyone! ^_^

Now for NFS Carbon Review:

Need for Speed: Carbon has the same graphics look with its predecessor, NFS Most Wanted. However, the similarity ends there. Carbon lost a lot of things that made Most Wanted a success namely: difficulty and game stability.

Most Wanted's blacklist style proved to be the center of difficulty in the game. To face a blacklist racer, requirements must be accomplished first. These requirements(e.g. number of races to be won, bounty) that each blacklist racer requires from the player will take some time to accomplish. Carbon on the other hand requires the player to conquer all the zones in the boss's territory before they can be given the chance to race with the latter. 15 bosses(Most wanted) compared to 4 bosses(Carbon). 4 bosses could have been fairly good enough if the bounty is also requirement for boss races. Furthermore, adding the Canyon races did not help increase the level of difficulty of the game. I just hope that for the next installment of need for speed they'll consider adding this again (i.e. if their theme is still underground racing).

Moving on, one thing that I really hate with Carbon, which in fact made me really frustrated, was the game's instability. I have experienced a lot of crashes during races and while on the menu screen. It's all due to the graphics engine I believe and a lot of players are also whining on this problem. I haven't experienced these type of crashes on my Most Wanted playing days. I hope the EA people can do the better job on the next NFS.

Well, that's all I have to say about NFS Carbon. Happy New Year once again and may we all have a blessed and fruitful year on 2007. ^_^
